Works-in-Progress is an artist collective based in Toronto and Hamilton. We make art out of garbage, co-host swaps and do workshops. We use recycled materials in art-making because up-cycling inspires creativity.
Welcome! We are entering a busy spring for many of the artists in our collective. Please check out our artist portfolio page to see what the artists are up do, maybe catch us at a market or workshop or exhibition. We just had our annual SPRING ALL AGES NEIGHBOUR-TO NEIGHBOUR CLOTHING SWAP on March 14th, 11-2pm at the community room in the basement of Glebe Road United Church in midtown Toronto. Read about the Spring Swap in our blog HERE or find out about last years swap and the whole 2025 year in review events HERE. Or follow us on instagram HERE.
We are also applying for grants to help sustain and support the artists in our collective. We just got one to support a project called "Summer of Care, Share and Repair 2026" and we are actively looking to collaborate with community groups by brings textile repair and upcycling to your events. This project is supported by the City of Toronto through Live Green Toronto and the Neighbourhood Climate Action Grants program.
Last winter we had a great series of drop in textile repair and upcycling workshops called "Winter of Care and Repair" These were mainly in midtown Toronto, with a special bunting making workshop as well for the Heliconian club in Yorkville, Toronto. PLUS one of our members volunteered to host a bonus series of Friday repair evenings in the Westdale neighbourhood in Hamilton ON (also free, but powered by volunteers.)
